Use of PVC pipe for alternative switch placement

Hi!

I am looking for some guidance. I’d like to find a way to use PVC pipe to create alternative switch access points on an adapted car. Does anyone have any builds they can share that includes specific sizing and supplies needed?

Thank you in advance!

Hi,
Can you elaborate a bit ?
What dimension are he PVC pipes your working on.
What kind of switch are you looking for?
Hand held bar or push button via 3.5mm jack?

Hi!

Thank you for your response. We are switch adapting these cars:

I don’t have any specifics on dimensions of the PVC pipe, but open to whatever you suggest! This will be used with a variety of switches, not just one specific one, but they all will be connected via 3.5mm jack.

Thanks!

Hi l,
I sorry but I don’t fully understand the tricycle you sent does not seem to be battery powered.
Are you looking to add a battery powered wheel as well?
I don’t really know how to help with that…

Ok now I see there a couple versions they selling on the same page.
It seems like dual steering so I don’t have the experience, do you plan on having two push buttons or one?
How do you image the trigger push button/s translating in to movement of the tricycle?

We plan to use one and two switches, depending on the child’s abilities. My question is more about a build of PVC pipe around the seat and/or frame for switch placement versus the actual battery interruption of the car.

Thank you for your help!

Sorry, I can’t help too much as I have less experience in this area.

We usually wing it when building the structure, but we do keep a stockpile of 20mm PVC along with off-the-shelf connectors like 90-degree and T-joints. We also use custom 3D-printed hinges and mounts to secure the round PVC to flat surfaces, such as the car frame or lap boards.

For switch placement, I always make sure the connection to the PVC is very solid. I’ve also designed some PVC connectors for push buttons, which we’ve used with Logitech Adaptive Switches.

Hope this helps a bit!

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. Have a great day!
