Any help or guidance would be appreciated! I am new to this and am trying to figure things out as we go. We are trying to modify an Elemara bumper car to a single switch (preferably) or a single joystick on the right side. We are thinking we will compromise turning and would be happy with forward and back options if that’s doable. Any help/guidance/diagrams/suggestions would be helpful.

I haven’t modified an Elemara bumper car, but I have modified similar bumper cars.
I have two suggestions for how you could modify the car.
- re-wire the two joysticks and replace them with a forwards button and a backwards button
Each of the two joysticks on the Elemara bumper car very likely has three wires going towards it. These are the signal wires to the car’s control box. Each joystick probably gets a ground wire a forward wire and a backwards wire. It should be possible to cut those wires off the two joysticks and wire them to a couple buttons instead so that the car goes forwards or backwards. It will take some experimentation to figure out what wires go in each direction, and I don’t know the exact wire colors.
- circuit board + joystick
I’ve been working on designing circuit boards that replace the control box that the car comes with to make it easy to turn a car into a 2-axis-joystick controlled car. The circuit board allows for driving, and spinning, and moving in variable directions and speeds. I’ve tested this in a similar, also 12 volt bumper car gbg-pcb | A PCB for controlling the motors in a go baby go car with joystick control . I would be happy to send you one of these circuit boards if you want to use one for your build.

Thank you so much for your help! My husband just finished doing some rewiring…he’s the brains behind that part, I just tell him what I need…lol. We are charging it up now and I will let you know how we make out with it. I will definitely reach out if we may need to go a different route or could benefit from a circuit board. If we have success, I will definitely share that too!

I’m also curious about how you set up the seating - that’s always been a challenge for me on my builds.
